 guest curated by María Muñoz and María Ortega December 15, 2009 - March 15, 2010 For our current show we invited María Muñoz and María Ortega, both from Madrid, to exhibit their work and select for FiberScene four other artists who could give us a sampling of contemporary fiber art from Spain. Curators' Statement: Traditionally and historically, artists have used multiple materials and technical resources for developing an emotional dialogue between the artist, the piece and the spectator. When we talk about textile art, we are defining a complex world of materials and techniques that have been used since times immemorial for the fabrication of cloths. The unique and exceptional contemporary objects seen below, while rooted in textile tradition, push in new directions, away from their commercial and functional meaning Fiber Spain is an expositive experience that precisely tries to channel a communicative process between the textile and the public.
