ARTIST STATEMENT
There is a curiosity within the human spirit to see out---to uncover the truth to the reality of that which one cannot entirely see. Through my work I invite this curiosity to seek reality or illusion. During the journey, the mind is confronted with structures and boundaries---which must be recognized and accepted or overcome.

COMMENTS ON THE FIBER FIELD
Cloth is a material long associated with human beings. From protective garments to fashion statements and burial shrouds to structural housing, cloth parallels culture while also providing a means for artistic expression. Cloth has the ability to convey messages, to transform meanings and to transcend the mundane.

Within the world of Fine Art there is a long history available which illustrates the incorporation of textile material---cloth---into art forms. Just within the 20th Century, a diverse group of artists have taken cloth out of a utilitarian context and legitimized its use as an art form. The work is present, it involves and connects many genres, but it is the recognition of the use of cloth as a valid medium, as a source for expression and form, that is long overdue.
